I made a chocolate cake to myself, but about the type and the recipe of it will talk in another post. I wanted something special for my birthday, but at the same time, something relaxing. It was a great news for me to find out that on the 17th of May, Eleonora Romanescu - a great artist form Moldova, is opening her exhibition on the occasion of her 85th anniversary, at the "Constantin Brancusi" Exhibition Center in Chisinau.
I decided to attend this event because I am an admirer of Mrs. Eleonora Romanescu's works, and also because my family are good friends with her.
This is a work from the beginning of her career. Eleonora Romanescu is called "the Moldovan Van Gogh" because of the technique and colors that she mixes.
Romanescu's painting technique consists in application of big strokes of color, that seem unfinished when looking nearly, but make an excellent composition, and almost a photo-like image if looking remotely.
Eleonora Romanescu is known for her amazing landscapes, but she has some really great portraits as well.
This is my favorite landscape of the entire collection. In my opinion it is vibrant, and almost heating, but at the same time very severe, and even monochrome, because of it's execution in two chromatic ranges: red and blue.
This is also one of my favorite works of Mrs. Romanescu. It is dramatic although there are some countryside objects and fruits drawn there.
In this double image you can see two almost identical paintings. It's like a game of finding the differences. The painting above, is the finished one, a big sized painting. The one that's under, is the original sketch of the painting above. It is much smaller in size, at it is part of our personal collection. We got it as a present from Mrs. Romanescu.
It was a great exhibition! It opened on the 17th of May and will last till 5th of June 2011. Once again congratulations to the great artist of our country - Eleonora Romanescu.But my birthday wasn't over. After the exhibition I spent a really great evening with my parents in one of my favorite restaurants.
