OpenBSD wired connection is configured via simple text files. Remember one thing: the connection name is the device name. Let’s get to work and see how easy it is to configure the wired connection.
First you need to know what drivers your system have and choose the appropriate one. Connection that will work depends on your choice. I think this is the hardest part of the configuration.
# man -k wired connection deviceSecondly you should create a file in the “/etc” folder named “hostname” followed by the “.” and by the “name of your chosen device”, in my case this was “xl0″ and “re0″ devices, then add one line in this file that contain the word “inet” followed by your “IPv4 address” and by your “netmask”.
# vi /etc/hostname.xl0 inet 140.124.63.26 255.255.255.0Thirdly you should create two files in the “/etc” folder named “mygate” which contain one line with your “gateway address” and “myname” which contain one line with your “hostname”.
# vi /etc/mygate 140.124.63.1 # vi /etc/myname flynn.my.laptopFinally you should create a file in “/etc”folder named “resolv.conf” that contain your DNS addresses. I used the google DNS addresses, and i recomand to add three lines in this file.
# vi /etc/resolv.conf lookup file bind nameserver 8.8.8.8 nameserver 8.8.4.4dasasd
