edge (n) – 1. a thin, sharpened side, as of the blade of a cutting instrument; 2. the line of intersection of two surfaces; 3. the point at which something is likely to begin; 4. a dividing line, a border; (…).

I was fascinated to see how many different meanings this word has. I only posted some of them, the ones i liked most.

The reason for finding this definition is to raise the question: ‘What if the world had its edges?‘ (and i am not speaking metaphorically here). You would know your world is floating above and beneath unexplored parallel and intersecting dimensions while gravity can’t keep you  when you want to jump from one of the edges.

I had this feeling quite often: standing on an abrupt cliff, on the top of the roof and even on a widely open window. The most impressive sensation was caused by water pads (băltoace). When i was a child, i used to look deep into every pad imagining that the reflected trees and clouds are actually an inverted world in which, unfortunately, i can’t do more than stepping on it’s tempting outside surface.

Imagine that all our world looks like this:

Would you step outside of this line having no clue if the gravity pulls you down, or some contrasting Archimedic force  pushes you up; if the falling is the last thing you’ll be conscious about or if you find new ways of mental reason; if you slowly see all your favourite things (ipod, lucky pen, a photo) floating while you fall; if you meet anybody jumping simultaneously from another world’s edge; if all the memories start disappearing backwards and your last memory would be symbolically embryonic; if you spread yourself into particles of indivisible soul; if you would never be able to return?

I enjoy thinking that the newly found world would seems much more complex just because of  our simple decision to step outside the familiar one. Probably it’ll  look differently for each of us, depending on our wishes/fears/ways to love.

There is still a hesitating thought that keeps my feet on this line that i drew in Paint. Our own little framed world must have a lot of unexplored pixels. Why would we jump without knowing every detail of that line which axiomatically is the shortest distance between 2 points…points at which something is likely to begin?…
