Though Kyoto might seem a cute small city, it’s actually huge and in order to see the best places, you need to plan your stay there from the beginning. I’ll suggest you a few places I visited and think are worth seeing.

  • Kyoto Brighton Hotel- a wonderful quiet hotel, located around 400m from the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The hotel has an exquisite cuisine, awarded by the Michelin Guide 2013.

  • Daitoku-ji Temple- a fascinating “secret” temple. It’s the best place to actually feel the japanese traditional atmosphere

  • Musashi Sushi- it you’re a sushi fan, you should definitely check out this place!   Food in Kyoto is more expensive than Osaka and Tokyo, but this is a place with one of the cheapest menus in the city!

  • The Golden Pavillion- an impressive temple with a beautiful garden, which served as a classical example of the minimalistic japanese landscape.

P.S.  Make sure you try the green tea ice-cream, such a unique taste!
