When I saw this geometric textile a few months ago, I knew I had to buy it, though didn’t have a clue what I would get out of. That’s actually a normal situation for me. I see a pattern i really like, but never have the design in my head, therefore I sometimes end up getting the wrong measurements. I know it’s a bad habit, but I can’t rush my inspiration, it just comes to me at the right moment, in the right circumstances. Everyone was telling me this textile was meant to be a coat, or at least a blazer, so those were the only things I could get out of it… But as stubborn as I am, I got a dress! I’ve never liked it when people say something’s impossible, especially when talking about such easy and real things as clothes (compared to space ships and nanotechnologies). Therefore I try to listen to my inner voice and never follow the stereotypes. It’s more interesting like that, don’t you think?
The best part about this dress is that it’s actually very warm (elementary, it was supposed to be a coat!). I also like the slightly puffy skirt, which gives it a playful retro breath. A perfect outfit for a walk in Paris and even for a cliche photo with the Eiffel Tower on the background… I can’t justify myself, it’s Paris! Even the most mainstream things have their charms.
