Although the officials in Chisinau say that their dialogue with the leadership from Tiraspol are advancing and Moldova is “on the right track” in its reintegration process, the self-established administration in Tiraspol has another point of view.
The leader of Transnistria Evgheny Shevchuk stated in a talk show that he will continue to build “an independent state” on the left side of Nistru River.
“As president of Transnistria, I am obliged by the constitution. I will carry out my responsibilities to develop an independent state which is the peoples’ will,” Evgheny Shevchuk said days prior yesterday’s “22nd independence day” celebration.
According to him, the Transnistrian leadership is doing everything possible to push the economy forward. He added that Tiraspol currently holds difficult bargaining concerning the rail and air transportation.
“We have to unblock the economy without any political scripts,” Evgheny Shevchuk said.
The self-established Transnistria marked yesterday 22 years of so-called “independence” which is not recognized by any UN member state. Only some Russian officials came here to participate at the manifestations organized by the local authorities including a soviet-styled parade which took place early today.
