There are such notions as cold sound and warm sound which are very popular through the brench of musicians. They appeared altogether with the developement of the digital sound technologies and divide musical bearers into two – cold and warm as well. It is an overtone matter of perceiving the sound being more punchier and phatter on all old-fashioned tubes, compared to a more synthetic, cold sound specific for digital files.

There is a big number of music lovers who care much about whether they listen a certain music album from a vinyl, or whether they do it from a CD. Such preferences of an emancipated public may sometimes be very important, therefore many recording studios are already using several practices in order to satisfy them. For example, registering the performer’s music directly on tape, and afterwards transfering from tape on cd in order to maintain the warmth of the sound for the large distribution of the product.

Though technologies are nowadays advancing rapidly and new sound bearers are replacing others, however, the old practices of recording, listening and collecting music do not vanish and, more important, do not lose their value.

The Cultural Flea Market with the theme of music is an attempt of an abstract reconstruction of the old music stand. It aims to incite to a retrospection of what was/and what is the presence and the role of music for each of us. What was and what is now its value. We will share stories about our first important albums we gained, old tape recorders, adventures and happenings telling about how music gathered people together. We will search for things we didn’t get to know and will try to put into traffic the abandoned and thrown away masterpieces. Also, the open stage bloc will call everybody to play live one of their favourite songs.

The FLAT SPACE will be open from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM to host the exchange and free distribution of music in different formats: CD/DVDs, cassettes, vinyls, mp3 (bring your memory stick), books about music, magazines, posters, just anything… Get all your old goods and bring them to the market.

The Cultural Flea Market is a cultural event very similar to a flea market, but on this Cultural Flea Market you can only exchange or share, so no use of money. Every Cultural Flea Market will have a theme, and the things that will be exchanged or shared should stay within the theme.

This event receives support from European Cultural Foundation, Direction for Culture of the Chisinau Municipality and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Republic of Moldova.
