Festival “Duminica Mare” 2013 (Great Sunday)
On June 23rd, in Domulgeni village was held the 4th edition of National Touristic Festival of Traditions “Duminica Mare”.
Duminica Mare is celebrated on 50th day after Easter and is a holiday dedicated to the life-giving nature and rich flora.
A distinctive feature of this holiday is decorating the pillars of the gates, doors and windows of the house and icons with green twigs of willow, walnut, linden, ash.
This year groups from different countries attended the festival. They had presented their costumes in the framework of “Parade of traditional clothes”.
The festival featured traditional cuisine, as mamaliga (some sort of polenta), sarmale (cabbage rolls), placinte and barbeque. As well there were artists presenting their handicrafts and ethnographic exhibitions.
During the festival an ethno-folkloric band was performing traditional music and people were dancing “hora” and having lots of fun.
While in Domulgeni, tourists can also visit the rural pension, beekeeping house, the wood carving studio and the rural museum (a house that has more than one century).
P.S. On our way back home we witnessed a double rainbow! It was amazing! =)
