During our second day we visited 2 wineries, if to be more precise it was one winery and the wine-making school in Nisporeni.
Asconi Winery
It was founded in 1994. The name of the winery derives from the name of the owner Alexei Sirbu. The property of the winery includes: 407 ha vineyard, 80 ha recently planted, but their aim is to get a 800 ha vineyard.
This winery produces approximately 3 mln bottles per year and most of them are for export. There are 5 lines of wines: Kiss Me Now (nice name for a wine), Sine Qua Non, Asconi Gold, Asconi Grape and Limited Asconi.
The main countries were Asconi exports its wine are: Czech Republic, Nigeria, Tanzania, USA and even Kenya.
Before export, every tank or barrel is checked once per week (they are the only one in Moldova who have FOSS Wine Scan) and as well, they offer a 18 months guaranty for the exported wines.
Wine-making School in Nisporeni
Actually it is not a school only for this purpose, it is a professional school, but with the financial support of Austrian Government a project in this sense was implemented. Every year this course is taken by approximately 25 students. They learn not just the theory of planting and taking care of a vineyard, but can actually apply all their knowledge into practice doing the whole process of making wine from A to Z. Students at the practice lessons are involved into the production process. They have their own brand of wine “Crescendo” (growth).
The school has 5 ha of vineyard. They are the first in Republic of Moldova who have produced Rose Wine from Feteasca Neagra.
This is a small overview of the wineries visited in the second day of “Redescopera Moldova. Drumul Vinului” (Rediscover Moldova. Wine Road). Stay Tuned in order to find out more details ![]()
