On June 24 was celebrated the Universal Day of the traditional Blouse “ie”. The event was hosted by the Museum of Ethnography and Natural History from Chisinau. By the way this is the very first museum were an event like this took place.
The initiators of the event were organisations “La Blouse Roumaine” and “Semne Cusute”. And despite the fact that this was the first edition of the event, it was celebrated in 48 countries, more than 100 cities.
Ia is not only the traditional white embroidered blouse, it is one of the most important elements of cultural heritage. Ia makes the connection between generations and ages, as in this blouse is preserved the genetic code of our nation.
The exhibition organized in the framework of this event included some pieces from Museum’s collection (over 5000 clothing items) as well as the blouses from different Romanian regions. As well, artists from different parts of Moldova organized a bazaar where their works could be admired and bought.
This event is of an unique importance, as it studies and protects ia – our symbol of national identity.
