At least four civilians were killed in a roadside bomb blast in western Farah province early Sunday, a local official said.
Five other civilians were injured in the blast.
The incident took place at about 06:30am local time in Korghan village in Khak-e-Safid district of the province, when a passenger vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb, provincial governor spokesman Abdul Rahman Zhwandai said.
The victims were the residents of Korghan village and they were travelling to the centre of the district, he said.
The victims were taken to a nearby hospital, he said.
No group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the blast.
Insurgents often use roadside bombs to target Afghan and Nato troops, but most of the victims of such incidents have been civilians.
