Where to eat
There are a lot of good places to eat all over Chisinau. No gourmand will go home on an empty stomach. The food is delicious and you can get more for less. In Chisinau there is a large range of restaurants based not only on Moldovan traditional food, but as well on national cuisine of different countries. In this relatively small country/ city you can enjoy Chinese, Italian, Uzbek, Ukrainian, Gagauzian, Russian, French, German, Greek and Armenian cuisine. Where to entertain yourself
Be you a nightlife, music or art lover you’ll find a great place where to hang out with friends or locals. Chisinau has a lot of places to offer. Here you’ll find a list of places where you can go.
Tipping
There is no requirement of tip in Moldova. It really depends on the situation. Anyway, usually a tip of 5 to 10 percent is admissible for restaurants and taxi drivers.
Water
Water is a precious resource in Moldova and visitors are encouraged not to waste it. Unfortunately, it is recommended not to drink tap water. Bottled water is inexpensive and readily available.
Some more additional tips
(1) Where to buy a map. Nearly all book shops sell maps of Chisinau, the best map is a little bigger than A5 in size (when folded).
(2) Getting a sim card. This is a very useful thing to do and will save you a lot of money if you want to contact other people in Moldova. You can find one in almost all shops/kiosks on the streets, but language barrier can be a problem, since people do not speak English. So, the easiest way to get one is to visit the Moldcell or Orange shop.
