Cord came under attack by both the Jubilee and Amani coalitions for using propaganda and violent language against their presidential candidates.
In separate statements, both Jubilee and Amani accused Cord of employing dirty tactics as campaigns enter the last leg.
In a letter to the electoral commission, TNA secretary for Legal Affairs Jasper Mbiuki accused Cord leaders of brandishing weapons and using demeaning language against Mr Uhuru Kenyatta in their campaign rallies.
“We write this letter to formally notify the IEBC of various instances of hate speech, violent and insulting language, war-like symbols and malicious statements made by Cord during its various campaign rallies across the country,” the letter stated.
“You will note that in one of the clips a Jubilee contestant is called a dog and a hyena. This is just one of dozens of instances where this sort of demeaning language is used against our presidential candidate,” Mr Mbiuki added, saying that TNA has the evidence.
“The same is true for the usage of weaponry and war-like symbols like hammers and machetes in campaigns. Clearly the ground is being prepared for a backlash to Jubilee’s imminent victory in a free, fair and transparent poll,” he warned.
Amani accused Cord of employing propaganda to campaign against Mr Musalia Mudavadi especially in Western Province.
In a letter signed by UDF secretary-general Dan Ameyo, the coalition accused its rival of spreading rumours that Mr Mudavadi was a project, first of President Kibaki and lately, retired President Daniel Moi.
“The next ODM attack was that Mudavadi was spoiling for ODM. He is not spoiling for anyone. He has, in the exercise of his democratic right, offered to serve Kenyans as their fourth president,” Mr Ameyo stated.
